Information about the Ottawa Senators

The Ottawa Senators are one of the newer teams within the National Hockey League but a team that is sure to make their place and much more known. This team is older than ten years but in comparison to other teams that have over ninety years on them they are cindered to be new, and very impressive given these facts. The colors to look for when you enter their home arena, Scotiabank Place are red, black, white and gold which are their team colors and you are sure to see of the signs, shirts and more of the screaming fans in the seats ready to root for their team.

The home city for their team is Ottawa, Ontario, Canada which is part of the reasoning for their primary media connections being Rogers Sportsnet East, Réseau des sports and TEAM. The owner of the team is Eugene Melnyk and the General Manager is Byran Murray. The head coach is Cory Clouston who was formerly the head coach of several other teams. The other teams that he has been head coach for are Binghamton Senators and many other teams including the WHL Kootenay Ice.

The captain of the Ottawa Senators is Daniel Alfredsson whose position is right wings and who shoots to the right. He is from Gothenburg, Sweden and has been playing for over ten years proudly in Ontario, waving the flag of both his home and Canada. It can be said that the flag of Ontario is never waved as fiercely or wildly as when the Ottawa Senators are at home playing against a rival team. That flag is not only a symbol of the team, but also a pride of the district.

The Ottawa Senators have won many awards and trophies for their accomplishments and skill at playing professional hockey. Spartacat, the team mascot, often reminds the team of their accomplishments and what they have done and that they can still do. No matter how down a game becomes, Spartacat is there to encourage them and get them to keep going no matter how tough their competition is. If they fail, he is right there to help them get back again and to tell the fans to cheer them on.

Fans cheering are one of the best aspects of the Ottawa Senators because even though they are not native to Ontario, the fans have welcomed them and showed them why they are so loved and desired to be there in Ontario. Although some teams have strong skills or more dominant players, few if any of the other professional hockey teams out there can honestly say they have such a roaring fan base as those that can be found in Ontario. In fact, some of the players admit they would never even think about retirement unless they had to because they would never wish to disappoint their fans. This is another fact that the fans know and it makes them love their team even more.
