Information about the Montreal Canadiens

One of the oldest teams around that you will be able to find are the Montreal Canadiens. The Montreal Canadiens have been a team as a whole for over one hundred years but they have been a National Hockey League team for only approximately ninety of those years. Before being a part of the National hockey League, they were a part of the National Hockey Association. Their colors are red, white, and blue, and you can see their home stadium covered in fans that support them before a home game. The home arena for this team is the Bell Centre.

The Montreal Canadiens are also known in Montreal as Canadiens de Montréal. They are a part of the Eastern conference and the Northeast division. This team has media connections that are both French and American and the owner of the team is George N. Gillett Jr. The General Manager for the team is Bob Gainey and the head coach is Guy Corbonneau. The team’s home city is Montreal, Quebec, and they will often return there to be home every chance they get to be with their families or practicing on the ice.

The captain of the team is Saku Koivu, who is Finnish and he was born in Turku. Saku Koivu plays Centre and shoots left. He has battled again not only his famous eye injury but has also battled cancer. Saku Koivu is a player that any team would love to have and has even won international awards and honors as well as awards and honors from National Hockey Leugue and SM-liiga. When you meet a man like Koivu, you cannot help but respect him immediately due to sense of purpose and desire to keep going on the ice for as long as he can.

Canada is home to many things including snow and ice. The Canadiens feel right at home when dealing with this kind of weather, especially in Montreal where the flag of Quebec is held up high. You can find it also of the Bell Centre and standing forth proudly on the inside next to the team’s logo, or being held before them as the team comes out to welcome a rival team. Although some might believe the Canadiens are not very hospitable, but nothing could be further from the truth, especially when a hockey team is meeting with a Canadien team.

Canada believes in making a home and then keeping that home as a special and sacred place you can always return to no matter how far you travel in the world. The Montreal Canadiens have made their home and they seek much of their strength and passion from it. They need only a short trip to see their adoring fans to know how much they are believed in and why they should continue to fighting for the goal at the end of the season. It is a home based not only in the stadium, but in the city itself.
