One thing is for sure; each franchise that has been a part of the league has had quite a unique story and background leading up to becoming an official franchise of the National Hockey League. However there are some franchises that have entered the league and formed a team under some extremely unique conditions. One of those franchises is the Anaheim Ducks. Below you will find some great info on how this franchise cam to be a competitor in the National Hockey League and known among hockey fans globally. Currently the franchise and team is known as the Anaheim Ducks and play in the National Hockey League's Pacific Division of the Western Conference. However, originally, when the franchise was founded in 1993 the team was named the Might Ducks of Anaheim. The name came from the title of the film "The Might Ducks" which was produced by the Walt Disney Company who founded the franchise. However the Walt Disney Company would eventually sell the franchise to Henry & Susan Samueli and it was them who gave the team it has now, the Anaheim Ducks. The team has dawned the new name ever since the franchise was sold in 2006. The fact that the name of the franchise came from a film based on hockey was a big reason that this team got a lot of exposure when forming, much more so than many other new franchises had received in the past. This is the reason that Anaheim Ducks have been able to make a name for themselves within the world of hockey quite quickly in comparison to most other young franchises in the league. It's important to note that the name of the team and the famous founder and owner was not the only reason that the team would experience success in the National Hockey League. The main reason that the team was able to get so much respect is the fact that they were able to prove themselves early on. For a team such as new as the Ducks, that have only been around since 1993, the team has accomplished some pretty spectacular achievements. A few of the notable accomplishments of the franchise and team include making it to the playoff for six times as well as winning a Stanley Cup Championship and two Western Conference Championships. These are just a few of the accomplishments that have allowed the ducks to truly cement their place in hockey history. However it's important to remember that the Anaheim Ducks are still a relatively young franchise that most likely hasn't reach their full potential. This is why many people expect many great things to come from the Ducks in the near future. |
