Information about the Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers joined the NFL in 1976 as an expansion team. If you love football, and live in the Tampa area, you could go see them play. The NFL's Tampa Bay Buccaneers are based in Tampa, FL. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers play at the Raymond James Stadium. Buccaneers tickets are available on-line and by phone through Ticketmaster. If you are interested in Tampa Bay Buccaneers season tickets, there is a priority list, make sure you contact the club about your interest in Tampa Bay Buccaneers tickets. Raheem Morris coaches the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers (often shortened as "Bucs"), a 1976 expansion team, have a relatively short but interesting history. They are currently members of the Southern Division of the National Football Conference (NFC) in the National Football League (NFL). They joined the NFL in 1976, along with the Seattle Seahawks, as expansion teams. They played their first season in the AFC West in 1976, as part of the 1976 expansion plan. Right after that season, they changed divisions with the Seattle Seahawks and became part of the NFC.

Infamously, the Bucs lost the first 26 games of their existence. At that point, Tampa Bay Buccaneers tickets were not worth a whole lot. After a brief winning phase during the late 1970s and early 1980s, the team suffered through 14 consecutive losing seasons. They rebuilt in the early 90s, and have been consistent playoff contenders since 1996. They even won Super Bowl XXXVII at the end of the 2002 season, a dramatic turnaround from their early history. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are currently owned by Malcolm Glazer and coached by head coach Raheem Morris.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have only been around since 1976, but when you buy Buccaneers tickets, you buy into the tradition of the NFL. The NFL has existed since 1920. The NFL is the largest professional league for American Football, in terms of both money and of fan support. 11 teams formed the league in 1920 as the American Professional Football Association. It changed its name to the American Professional Football League in 1921, and ended up settling on the National Football League in 1922. Today, the league consists of 32 teams from all over the United States. The league is divided into two conferences, the AFC and the NFC, and each conference has four divisions.

Football, hands down, is the most popular sport in the United States. When you buy Tampa Bay Buccaneers tickets, you are joining a very large pool of football fans. Although baseball is known as America's national pastime, football is actually the most popular. According to a Harris Poll, Pro Football moved ahead of baseball as the fans' favorite in 1965, and has remained America's favorite sport ever since. As of 2008, according to Harris, the NFL is the choice for more people as their favorite sport than the next three most popular. If you consider college football, then 42 percent of Americans consider football to be their favorite sport.
