Information about the Seattle Seahawks

The Seattle Seahawks represent the Pacific Northwest in the NFL. If you love football, and live in the Pacific Northwest why not go see them play? The NFL's Seattle Seahawks are based in Seattle, WA. The Seattle Seahawks play at the Qwest Field. Seahawks tickets are available on-line and by phone through Ticketmaster. If you are interested in Seattle Seahawks season tickets, there is a priority list, make sure you contact the club about your interest in Seattle Seahawks tickets.

The Seahawks joined the NFL in 1976 as an expansion team. In June 1975, there was a contest held to name the team. The name Seahawks was chosen out of more than 20,000 entries. A Seahawk is an Osprey, it's just another name for the same bird. Ospreys are birds that live on rivers and seacoasts everywhere in the world. They have a wingspan of 4 to 6 feet, and their bodies are 22" to 25" long. They soar over the water to hunt fish. Unlike eagles, they often dive completely underwater, and grab their prey with their powerful talons. If you want to grab Seattle Seahawks tickets, you don't need powerful talons, but MasterCard or Visa might be helpful.

The Seattle Seahawks are currently members of the Western Division of the National Football Conference (NFC) in the National Football League (NFL). The team, along with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, joined the NFL as expansion teams in 1976. Seattle is the only team to have played in both the AFC and NFC Championship Games. They won one of these--the Seattle Seahawks have one Super Bowl appearance, in Super Bowl XL in 2005.

The Seattle Seahawks carry on a proud NFL tradition. Although the Seahawks have only been in the NFL since 1976, the NFL has been around since 1920. Your Seattle Seahawks tickets would be part of that tradition. The NFL is the largest professional league for American Football, in terms of money and fan support. 11 teams formed it in 1920 as the American Professional Football Association. It changed its name to the American Professional Football League in 1921, and settled on the National Football League in 1922. Today, the league consists of 32 teams from all over the United States. The league is divided into two conferences, the AFC and the NFC, and each conference has four divisions.

Football, in many ways, is the most popular sport in the United States. When you buy Seattle Seahawks tickets, you are joining a very large pool of fellow fans. Although baseball is known as America's national pastime, football is actually the most popular. According to a Harris Poll, Pro Football moved ahead of baseball as the fans' favorite in 1965, and has remained America's favorite sport ever since. As of 2008, according to Harris, the NFL is the choice for more people as their favorite sport than the next three most popular. If you consider college football, then 42 percent of Americans consider football to be their favorite sport.
