Information about the Green Bay Packers

Having won multiple championships, the Green Bay Packers have historically been one of the most exciting teams in the National Football League. If you love football, why not go see them play? The NFL's Green Bay Packers are based in Green Bay, WI. The Green Bay Packers play at historic Lambeau Field. Packers tickets are available on-line and by phone through Ticketmaster. If you are interested in Green Bay Packers season tickets, there is a waiting list, contact the club. Mike McCarthy coaches them.

The Green Bay Packers are third oldest team in the NFL, and are currently in the North Division of the National Football Conference (NFC) of the National Football League (NFL). The Green Bay Packers are the last vestige of the many small town teams that were common during the 1920s and 1930s. Earl "Curly" Lambeau and George Whitney Calhoun founded the team in 1919. They can trace their lineage back to other semi pro teams in the green bay area dating back to 1896. In 1919 and 1920, the Packers were a semi pro team competing regionally. They joined the forerunner of the NFL in 1921.

The Packers have won 12 championships, which is more than any team in the NFL. This includes 9 NFL Championships before the Super Bowl era, and three Super Bowl wins: Super Bowl I and II, in 1967 and 1968 respectively, and Super Bowl XXXI, in 1997. The team's fiercest rivals are the Chicago Bears. They have played the Bears more than 170 times. They are also bitter rivals with the Minnesota Vikings. The Dallas Cowboys have historically been their largest playoff rivals.

The Packers are the only non-profit, community-owned major league pro sports team in the USA. The Green Bay Packers have been around a long time, and even predate the NFL, but when you buy Green Bay Packers tickets, you also buy into the tradition of the NFL, which has been around since 1920. The NFL is the largest pro league for American Football, measured both in terms of money and of fan support. 11 teams formed the original league in 1920 as the American Professional Football Association. That league then changed its name to the American Professional Football League in 1921, and ended up renaming itself the National Football League in 1922. As of this writing, the league consists of 32 teams from all over the United States of America. The league is divided into two conferences, the AFC and the NFC, and each conference has four divisions.

Football is most definitely the most popular sport in the United States of America. When you buy Green Bay Packers tickets, you are becoming part of a huge group of football fans. Although baseball is known as America's national pastime, football is actually the most popular. According to a Harris Poll, Pro Football moved ahead of baseball as the fans' favorite in 1965, and since then has remained America's favorite sport ever since. As of 2008, according to Harris, the NFL is the choice for more people as their favorite sport than the next three most popular. If you consider college football, then 42 percent of Americans consider football to be their favorite sport.
