Information about the Denver Broncos

As one of the most popular teams in the NFL, the Denver Broncos have no troubles selling Broncos tickets. Even in seasons when the team isn't doing as well as it could, Denver Broncos tickets can be hard to come by. And it's no wonder, given their history and their previous records. The Broncos continue to show their skills to the citizens of Colorado, as well as to those who sit at home and watch them from their couches.

Based in Denver, Colorado, the Denver Broncos are a member of the AFC Western Division and have been since 1960. As one of the original teams in the league, Denver has the distinction of not having to switch leagues every decade or so - as so many others have. Though they started out in the American Football League, the merger with the NFL was seamless, leaving them in the same division there were in at the start. This helped to create a solid team structure and fan base.

Founded in 1959 by Bob Howsam, the Denver Broncos won the first ever AFL game over the Boston Patriots. They only hold the distinction of being the first AFL team to win over an NFL team in 1967, by beating the Detroit Lions. While the Broncos weren't too successful in the 1960s, the 1970s brought about changes to their lineup that helped to improve their record. Their first playoff appearance was in 1977 under the coach Red Miller and his Orange Crush Defense. While they made it to the Super Bowl that year, they were defeated by the Dallas Cowboys.

But it would be John Elway's arrival in 1983 that really put the Broncos in the minds of football fans. This would be baseball player ended up being the quarterback that led the team to five Super Bowls, and two that the Broncos actually won as a result of his arm and technique. However, in 1999, the Denver Broncos started their season without Elway in their lineup, as he retired in 1998. But even with that loss, the Broncos have only had two losing seasons. Denver has gotten to the playoffs by wildcard three times and once by winning their division. Quarterbacks still can't seem to keep up with Elway's reputation, though the team overall is as strong as ever.

Invesco Field at Mile High, or Invesco Field, is the stadium where people come with their Denver Broncos tickets in hand. This stadium was opened in 2001 and it is located at 1701 Bryant Street in Denver, Colorado. With a grass playing surface, it can be tricky to maintain, but the field still supports both the Broncos and the city's lacrosse team play. Fans were disappointed when the name changed from the Mile High Stadium to its current name in 2001.

Broncos tickets can still be hard to find, though shopping for these online makes things easier for those out of town fans. While Elway may be gone and the pressure is on for newer quarterbacks, Denver is still a team worth watching - and a team that continues to surprise its fans.
