Information about the Dallas Cowboys

While the Dallas Cowboys might be known more for their cheerleaders by some, this is a professional football team with a successful past as well as a promising future on the field. Whether you hold season Dallas Cowboys tickets or you simply bought your first Cowboys ticket to see what the fuss was all about, you will not be disappointed - no matter who ends up winning the game. The Cowboys continue to be a delight for fans, both old and new.

The Dallas Cowboys are currently the most valuable football franchise in the NFL today, according to Forbes. But it wasn't always that way. Created in 1960 as one of the expansion teams, the Cowboys were met with a lot of opposition as the Washington Redskins were enjoying their place as one of the only teams in that region. But eventually, the Cowboys were entered into the Western Conference. However, in 1961, the team was moved into the Eastern Conference and then into the Capital Conference and finally into today's place in the NFC East.

First known as the Dallas Steers, the Cowboys were also named the Rangers before finally settling on their current moniker. With Tom Landry as their first head coach, the Dallas Cowboys did not secure a single win their first season, much to the disappointment of fans and the owners. As the 1960s progressed, the team began to assemble a stronger lineup. This led to a 1966 season record of ten wins, three losses and one tie - a marked improvement. This was just the beginning of Dallas' strong record. They eventually made it to the playoffs nine times between 1975 and 1983.

In 1969, Mike Ditka joined the team along with other strong players. Led by Craig Morton as the quarterback, the Dallas Cowboys finally made it to the Super Bowl that year. The game was filled with mistakes and the Cowboys ended up losing 16 to 13, but it was a respectable loss. The Cowboys began to gain popularity as a result.

Even with a strong quarterback like Danny White in the 1980s, the Cowboys could not make it to the Super Bowl. As a result, the Cowboys shifted owners a few times during this decade, eventually leading to the firing of Tom Landry and the replacement of Jimmy Johnson. This move ended up costing the team its strong record, leaving 1989 a season of one win and 15 losses. But in the coming years, Troy Aikman, Emmitt Smith, and other famous names came into the team and the Cowboys were back in their winning fashion.

Right now, a new Dallas Cowboys Stadium is being built with plans to open up in the fall of 2009. This stadium cost about $1.3 billion to build and it can house up to 100,000 fans.

If you want to secure Dallas Cowboys tickets, you might want to look as soon as you can. Cowboys tickets can be hard to find once the new season is underway as diehard fans like to buy up blocks early on.
