Information about the Chicago Bears

As one of only two original teams from the formation of the NFL, and participants in some of the most storied rivalries in football history, the Chicago Bears are on of the most historic teams in the National Football League. If you love football, why not go see them play? The NFL's Chicago Bears are based in Chicago, IL. The Chicago Bears play at historic Soldier Field. Bears tickets are available on-line and by phone through Ticketmaster. If you are interested in Chicago Bears season tickets, there is a waiting list, contact the club. Lovie Smith coaches them.

The Chicago Bears are members of the NFC North, part of the National Football Conference (NFC) in the National Football League (NFL). In their long history, they have won 9 championships. These include eight NFL Championships, all won before the advent of the Super Bowl, and Super Bowl XX. The Bears have more players in the Hall of Fame than any other team, with 26. They have also won more games than any other team, and recorded their franchise-record 700th win on December 7, 2008.

The Bears were founded in Decatur, IL in 1919. They moved to Chicago in 1921. Along with the Cardinals they are the last survivors of the original NFL. They played their home games at Wrigley Field until 1970, and since then have played at Solider Field. Their fiercest rivals by far are the Green Bay Packers. The Bears have played the Packers over 170 times.

The Bears are one of the oldest pro football teams in the USA. The Chicago Bears have been around a very long time, and even predate the NFL, but when you buy Chicago Bears tickets, you also buy into the tradition of the NFL, which has been around since 1920. The NFL is the largest pro league for American Football, measured both in terms of money and of fan support. 11 teams formed the original league in 1920 as the American Professional Football Association. That league then changed its name to the American Professional Football League in 1921, later renaming itself the National Football League in 1922. As of this writing, the league consists of 32 teams from all over the United States of America. The league is divided into two conferences, the AFC and the NFC, and each conference has four divisions.

Football is by a wide margin the most popular sport in the United States of America. When you buy Chicago Bears tickets, you are becoming part of a huge group of football fans. Although baseball is typically called America's national pastime, football is actually the most popular. According to a Harris Poll, Pro Football passed baseball as the fans' favorite in 1965, and since then has remained America's favorite sport ever since. As of 2008, according to Harris, the NFL is the choice for more people as their favorite sport than the next three most popular. If you consider college football, then 42 percent of Americans consider football to be their favorite sport.
