Welcome to Seat Hound and a Whole New Era of Internet Ticket Searching
Wow... These last few months have been an incredible ride for myself and my business partner. I would like to do is introduce myself and my business partner and give you guys a little background on who we are.
First, there is me, Rob. I have been in the internet business for a little over a decade. My passion for sports only goes back about 5 years when I first bought San Diego Charger tickets with the full intention on just selling them for pure profit. Well for anyone who follows sports, the Chargers were not the best team in football 5 years ago. Basically I had to stay up on how other teams around the league were doing to know how to price my tickets since at the time the Chargers were destined for a last place finish. Low and behold, I went to about 30% of the games and was hooked from the point. I continue to this day to go to Chargers games, at least 4-5 a season. To bad they are have an off yearr on our launch year but that is besides the point.
Next there is my business partner, Dan. Dan and I met a while ago in high school and sadly didn't really know each other in HS. (Football players and Soccer players just didn't mix back then.) Dan and I reunited so to speak a few years after high school and found ourselves striving to create something amazing. Which is pretty much how we landed on this idea after a bunch of failed ideas and a lot of beer meetings later. Dan is our financial guru and marketing genius. He definitely keeps this company/website going in the right, profitable direction.
Now that the formalities are out of the way, lets talk about this site that has been quietly gaining some momentum through the sports ticketing community. Before we started our major marketing campaigns or blogging the crap out of this website, we wanted to make sure that we had a sound foundation. Here are a couple of things that we have been working on over the last couple of months to bring us to this point:
- New Beefy Server to Handle our Increasing Traffic
- Stadium Configurations for NFL, MLB, NCAAF, NHL and NBA
- Integration of Seating Charts
- Integration of Seat Pictures
- Code Optimizations for Faster Download Times
- Save Team to Favorites
- Save Events to Favorites
The above is just a short list of things we have done. I know I am leaving a few items off, but I just wanted to hit on the major upgrades before I get to a few hints as to what we have planned:
- Concert Integration (SO MANY VENUES TO PROGRAM! AAHH!!!)
- Pricing Alerts to Email or Cell Phones
- Golf Integration
- Tennis Integration
- NASCAR Integration
- Boxing/MMA Integration
- Theatre Integration
- Contest & Giveaways (FREE TICKETS!!!)
There is one thing that I have not put on the COMING SOON list, that I am especially excited about and at this time I am not really allowed to say much until we get our prototype done, but it is something we have been planning for a while and I just know it will add functionality and usability to users.
On a final note of our first blog post, we love hearing from our users. We want to know what your think, suggestions on how we can improve, love letters, hate mail; just send it over. We respond to everything within 24 hours.
