Information about the Utah Jazz


The Utah Jazz has been famous throughout the NBA community, not only for their legendary duo defense but also for the two times they went up against the Chicago Bulls and Michael Jordan. Although they lost in the end, they put up one of the most memorable plays in history and it is firmly believed that if it had not been for Jordan the Utah Jazz would have won both times. Even though they are famous now, they did not start out that way and from their conception, they spent a period of ten years where they did not have any wins and were mediocre at best. However, this changed later on and since they have made quite a comeback.

Originally, the team began in New Orleans but eventually moved to Salt Lake City. This decision was made due to the team being over five million in debt and being unable to recuperate from the losses conceived while in New Orleans. Due to poor advertising and many fans objecting the move, the result was that for over six seasons the Utah Jazz would struggle to be able to come out ahead again. During this time, the team worked very hard at the Energy Solutions Arena, which was their new home. The Energy Solutions Arena was created to replace the former aging location and to give both the Utah Jazz and another team a fresh new home where they could be proud to play.

The Houston Rockets are often thought as the foremost rivals of the Utah Jazz despite the related games with Jordan and the Chicago Bulls. For basketball, it is possible for a team to have a bad game or even a bad season but still do well when the playoffs arrive. The Utah Jazz are like this in many ways as even though they will at times have a bad season, they will still pull it off in the end, especially with the talent their team has built up. In fact, some competition has been known to not only keep an edge on a team, but also encourage them to reach for a higher bar and make their fans love them even more when they pull off the miracle that all fans hope to see their favorite team do.

Jerry Sloan, originally part of the Chicago Bulls, has graced the team by bringing his talent to the forefront of the competition and now helps lead them by being their coach. The charisma and leadership he often demonstrated during his time in the Bulls shows strong in the later years of the Utah Jazz. It is perhaps ironic that a member of the team that was once their biggest competition is now spearheading the movement to help drive them to the top. With the talent of the team and a leader like Jerry Sloan, the Utah Jazz are sure to be a strong presence both now and in the future.
