They have also has division tittles many times and many of them are spread 1978 to 2006. With many basketball fans, another saying is that a team is only as good as their most difficult years. For the San Antonio Spurs, the more difficult years were from 1085 to 1989 and they are known for the team as their darkest time. There were also many reasons that these times were mentionable on a better scale including full ownership being given to the man who had been the first to invest in the San Antonio Spur, Red McCombs and the Spurs winning the top pick for the 1987 NBA draft.
