Information about the Portland Trail Blazers


Also known as the Blazers, the Portland Trail Blazers are located in Portland, OR., and represent another honorable team with a long history of playing in the NBA. A contest was once held for the name and the most popular name was unfortunately not chosen as another location in the state had opted to use the name. Due to this, the second most popular name, Trail Blazers, was selected and it has become known throughout the state as the beloved Portland Trail Blazers. They have successfully won a single championship and they have come close to winning two others.

Although at times, the Portland Trail Blazers have not had the best winning record, and they have gone through problem after problem, they have remained a steady team for Oregon. They have qualified for the NBA playoffs many times and they continue to work hard to fight their way to the top despite encountering problems in years past. Although they struggled to find a good leader, eventually they found the right mix for their team to help them find victory.

The Rose Garden is the home of the Portland Trail Blazers, and it is aptly named. However, the home of the Portland Trail Blazers has undergone much difficulty due to economic strife. When the team began having problems and not winning as often, the Rose Garden was eventually divided in ownership and once the team continued having problems it was divided yet again. Eventually, the team returned to a good playing record and the Rose Garden was repurchased thanks to Paul Allen. However, the difficult times had taken its toll on the team and there were many issues that rose up for players when not playing or due to injuries while playing.

Despite this track record, once former basketball player Nate McMillan entered the scene, the story for the Portland Trail Blazers began to change. A bit of light began to be shed on the situation and both the players and the situation began to improve. Wins started occurring again and within a few short seasons, the new trail that McMillan and the team began to cut together improved and helped open a new path to future wins.

With a 13 winning game streak, it was only a matter of time before the Portland Trail Blazers began to ride forth again. In particular, the team spirit also began to rise as did team pride, which helped to forge anew the players still on the team and to help bring in new players with fresh vitality. When hope dies for a team, so does the drive to keep going, and the Portland Trail Blazers almost succumbed to this fate. However, with a steady hand guiding the team thanks to Nate McMillan, and the fire and determination of the team along with the support of still loyal fans, things changed for the better and helped to usher in a new era for Portland, OR.
