Information about the Oklahoma City Thunder


Once known as the Seattle Supersonics, a disagreement with the original owners had this team taken to Oklahoma City to become known as the Oklahoma City Thunder. They remained located in Seattle for some time until the new area could be renovated and for as long as they were known as the Seattle Supersonics they remained receiving wins until they changed their names. They received a harsh beating from the Minneapolis Timberwolves and shared their homes with the New Orleans Hornets after the disaster of Hurricane Katrina.

Oklahoma City has been known for many years as the site of the Oklahoma City bombing, which reverberated throughout the nation with pain over the loss of lives. However, despite this tragic turn of events, Oklahoma City has tried hard to overcome what happened while remembering the tragedy. The Oklahoma City Thunder is one such attempt after having purchased the group that had once been known as the Seattle Supersonics and despite their stiff opposition, they have continued to try hard within the NBA.

The Ford Center is their current home and it has changed much during the years, especially as multiple shows and not only sports are home there. Much of Oklahoma has been displayed in the Ford Center, just as it has been displayed with the team's jersey and logo, which has been taken from the different teams throughout Oklahoma. Having a home like the Ford Center is important for any team, especially after having been uprooted and taken away from the home that they had known for years due to a major conflict. Although many individuals in Seattle argued over the team being transferred, most admitted it was inevitable due to the separate positions of the owners and the city.

Scott Brooks, a former basketball player, once served as the assistant coach of the Denver Nuggets and is now the head coach of the team. He has served as most of the major NBA teams and he has brought the experience and talent, which he gleaned from them with him. For teams like Oklahoma City Thunder, having an experienced coach like Brooks on it can help them to recover from a potential bad floor, as was the case when they were switched from Seattle to Oklahoma. In addition, having a man like Brooks on their team will also help to give pause to rival teams, which has had his prowess during his older days.

The Oklahoma City Thunder has fallen in place but not in grace due to what transpired when they were forced to move. However, a steady comeback can make a different and that is exactly what the Thunder is making happen with the assistance of Scott Brooks. It is hoped that with the new location and edge they have obtained they will be able to jump into the new NBA matches and show the nation that while their name and logo might have changed, they are still a winning team.
