Minneapolis had waited a long time to have a team return to their home city and they strongly supported the decision. Although the Minnesota Timberwolves have had periods in their history where they were not having a winning streak, their original owners continued to try to sell them despite the team's popularity in Minneapolis. Basketball has always been enjoyed in Minneapolis due to how popular it is. Although basketball continued to be played in Minneapolis, MN, it was not until that Timberwolves that professional basketball returned to the city. Basketball has always been a timeless sports classic for many individuals, due to its popular style and its fun nature. Many basketball players start in high school and continue to play their way through college where they are then hired to play professionally. It has been through this method that the Minnesota Timberwolves have found some of their greatest successes on their team. The Target Center is a large and luxurious stadium where not only the Minnesota Timberwolves have graced the scene but so have many individuals including pop stars and music bands. In addition, the arena itself cost over $104,000,000 US and although it is not considered the largest of the stadiums in the nation, it is by far one of the most impressive. Most fans who are either from Minneapolis or visit the city often state they are impressed by not only the stadium itself but how easy it is to see their favorite team, even in the dark of night. As Kevin McHale began managing the team once it was bought by Glen Taylor who requested that McHale begin managing the team. Originally, he played for the Boston Celtic, but eventually he became a manager and helped to bring success and the future to the Minnesota Timberwolves. Although it was a rocky first season under his tutelage, as the team missed the playoffs for the first time in many years, and together with his team, they began to search for the right coach who would help them to bring the success they so strongly sought. It was Dwayne Casey that after being interviewed was finally selected by both McHale and Timberwolves. From playing at the Target Center to its latest wins, the Minnesota Timberwolves are a team with a strong spirit that has overcome some major hurdles in their career yet continues to be a strong presence in the NBA, even when they are not winning. They have had to be labeled as an example of poor spending by the NBA and received a four-month lockdown, yet continued to hang in there as team even when they had to let players go in order to continue. With McHale and Casey, the Minnesota Timberwolves are moving forward together as a pack. |
