There are many different teams in the National Basketball Association that have been able to make a name for themselves both on and off the courts. There are many different reasons that teams gain popularity these days among basketball fans and sports enthusiasts, sometimes teams will experience this type of success due to success on the court. However there are also many other franchises that are able to brand themselves because of a star player or endorsements. One team that has been able to create quite a brand for their franchise in such a short period of time is the Cleveland Cavaliers. In comparison to many other franchises in the National Basketball Association the Cleveland Cavaliers have been able to brand their franchise much quicker and effectively than many others that have been around for a long longer.

The franchise of the Cleveland Cavaliers who are also quite often referred to as the Cavs are quite a young team in comparison as they entered the National Basketball Association as part of the 1970 expansion. However there would be many ups and downs throughout the years that the franchise would spend building their roster and branding the franchise before winning their first Eastern Conference Championship in 2007.

The Cleveland Cavaliers have called many different arenas home over the years including the Cleveland Arena from 1970-1974 and the Coliseum at Richfield from 1974-1994 until moving to their current home arena, the Quicken Loans Arena that was formerly known as the Gund Arena. The franchise has called the Gund Arena home since 1994.

There are many different reasons that the Cleveland Cavaliers have been able to cement themselves as a successful franchise in the National Basketball Association among basketball fans and sports enthusiasts. One of the biggest factors is the fact that the franchise has produced so many notable players. In fact, the team is responsible for many players that would eventually be inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame. Some of the Hall of Famers that played for the Cleveland Cavaliers includes Nate Thurmond, Walt Frazier, Lenny Wilkens, Wayne Embry, and Chuck Daly. Wayne Embry is a huge part of the legacy of the Cleveland Cavaliers as he was the first African American to serve as a President and G.M. for a professional National Basketball Association team. This is a huge part of the rich history that has made the Cleveland Cavaliers what they are today.

There are a ton of players that have played for the Cleveland Cavaliers that have made the franchise what they are. Some of the notable players who have had their numbers retired by the franchise include Bingo Smith 7, Larry Nance 22, Austin Carr 34, Mark Price 25, Brad Daugherty 43, and Nate Thurmond 42. These players all have played a huge role in the Cleveland Cavaliers success within the National Basketball Association and among sports fans all over the world.
